I founded The Howard Law Firm llc with two purposes in mind: to provide uniquely informed advocacy for people injured by medical malpractice or the negligence of others; and to address the growing need to access superior legal services economically in construction, dispute resolution, commercial and insurance matters.

For more than ten years I successfully litigated some of the most challenging and complex cases as an associate and then as a partner at a large Chicago law firm. However, my life and career goals transformed after physicians misdiagnosed my young son. Like so many, I trusted his physicians and followed their advice. But I also persistently demanded that his physicians explain their diagnoses and recommendations in terms that I could truly understand. This made all the difference in the world. In doing so, I learned that his physicians did not know how to treat his illness. Consequently, I sought and obtained advice from other physician specialists and ultimately learned that my son suffered from a rare, rapidly fatal disease that cannot be cured with the treatment his original physicians prescribed. Worse yet, I learned that the original course of treatment placed my son’s life in even greater jeopardy and that his only hope for survival was to receive a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, he obtained a life-saving transplant in the nick of time and my son is now doing very well. While I am deeply grateful for the intervention that saved my son’s life, his misdiagnosis heightened my awareness of the preventable suffering too many endure from deficient medical care. I do not want to see anyone else suffer, and I firmly believe that causing guilty parties to take responsibility for their negligence assists injured people in their healing and results in positive change that prevents others from suffering. The Howard Law Firm llc enables injured people to obtain maximum compensation and other remedies by combining my many years of experience as a successful litigator with the unique knowledge, insights and abilities I acquired in guiding my son’s care.

In addition, throughout my career, I successfully mediated, arbitrated and litigated a wide array of disputes in matters involving personal injuries, construction defects and delays, design professional malpractice, mechanics liens, insurance and various other commercial disputes. These matters ranged in value from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of millions of dollars. I also drafted and negotiated design, construction and other contracts on similarly valued projects, evaluated insurance coverage issues for various commercial, general, and environmental coverage issues, and successfully prosecuted and defended numerous insurance coverage based lawsuits. However, it became increasingly challenging to assist people and businesses in these matters because of the high hourly rates that were charged for my services at a large law firm. By eliminating the substantial overhead that fuels large law firm rates, The Howard Law Firm llc enables a broader spectrum of clients to obtain superior legal services when they are truly needed.
